I have updated my Review Kit for v4 exam. However, MPLS is still not there. First, it’s a big topic, so I want to spend some more time on preparing notes for it (I am short of time recently due to large projects I am involved in). Second, I will post a separate document which will be covering MPLS stuff only. Feel free to download the updated doc, and do not hesitate to send any comments or suggestions :-)
CCIE R&S Quick Review Kit – Updated !!
Some notes regarding new material. Most of it it’s quite easy to understand and you can master it within few days (each topic), except one – OER/PfR. Although it is not as complicated as it seems, documentation on CCO is very hard to follow. I tried my best to cover the most interesting things, but I think I will have to update it soon, to make it more readible (even for myself). I am still working on some diagrams and a better form. Next big topic is security. Zone-based Firewall and IPS are added. I played with it a while and seems quite easy to understand. The logic is intuitive. Remaining changes are minor, except that 3550 is not on the lab anymore, so L2 QoS can be now unified (I left 3550 QoS in my doc, just fo reference)
As a final note, I would like to remind you that the Study Kit is NOT a complete study material. Make sure you read and understand the technology before skimming through the Review. Do lot’s of labs and read command reference and configuration guide (both of them, trust me). I also strongly recommend using well-known vendor’s workbooks and attending a bootcamp about 2-3 months before the lab, so you have some time for tuning your knowledge.
I passed my exam on April 2009, and I still feel like it was yesterday :-) All the labbing, reading, working on timing… I think it’s time to select the second track :-) Anyway, good luck.
Hi Krzysztof
I’d like to say many thanks for updating the material for v4 even after you passed v3.
Its a great resource!
Regards
Roy
Becoming CCIE is not just passing one exam. It is developing knowledge constantly and staying up-tp-date. Not only because recertification time gets closer, but mainly because customers expect it from a CCIE. So, every time I update myself with new topics, and I find a little spare time, I will be developing and posting my notes constantly :-)
Thanks it a very good CCIE quick reference !!!
You are Great.
I will use this to keep up my ccie skill set.
Thanks.
one of the best review CCIE booklets i’ve seen.
Thank you
This is so awesome! Thank you so much for the effort!
I used it as a review to consolidate my knowledge and quickly identify any weakness that I might have. It was also very effective for the OEQs.
It is so good that I still use it every chance I get. If you either have Paypal donation or Amazon’s wish list, please let me know so I can show my appreciation!

Excellent material. I love it.
Would you happen to have anything for VOICE?
Yes, I am working on Voice, too. Frst, I will update RS with MPLS, and then finish voice. I plan to have the first version ready somewhere around March.
Man, i love you for this guide …
Bless you.
Regards,
Have to say this guide has saved me hours in rendering my own notes to mind maps. I’ll pencil in any additions and call it a day. Thank you very much for your time and effort. I printed it out on 11×17 and bound it. It’s the perfect tool for me to study with.
Thanks again!
Terry
This may be teh greatest study notes I have ever seen! Thanks for this, and thanks for making it free for everyone!
Thank you for sharing and CCIE is my goal one day
You’re the MAN!!!
Hi Krzysztof. I am going for the CCIE R/S lab exam by the end of March and am using your Quick Review kit and I must say I love it and have recommended it to some of my colleagues who are also studying for CCIE !
Any idea when the MPLS part will be added to it ?
Well, I hope soon :-) I will finish my current project somewhere around half of February, so the update should be ready in March.
Great Material, Well done for all efforts u made to make this valuable kit. Cheers.
Mate, it is great to fellow polish guy putting together such a quality reference guide recognized all over the net. I am going for CCIE written next month and hope to do the lab by the end of this year.
cheers
Perfect
Man, You are gr8, you just saved my too much time.
Fantastic – thanks for this.
BIG BIG THANKYOU! for these notes.
I love the format you have used. Its just awesome :) you need to talk to some publishers as this should be part of a book!
Thanks again, good luck with your second IE :)
Great notes. Thank you.
But did you seriously memorise all 57 pages of these for the CCIE?
How did you go about doing that?
Yes, at the time of attempting the lab I mastered everything that was on all of those pages. Everything what’s in that review is what I actualy have read and labbed extensively. Of course it is inevitable that same parts you start forgetting when you do not use it. It’s the nature of human brain. But the way I prepared myself those notes in a form of mind maps, allows me to quickly refresh knowledge within couple of hours. When I realized what power mind maps have, I am unable to make notes in any other form now :-)
it will be more helpful if you add Headers detail, and DOC CD pointers.
Well, I will be adding some headers, but I think DOC CD pointers make no sense, as lot’s of information comes from different places, and half of the page would be www links.
Well I dint mean all links, just a Pointer to Exact information page like
IOS->12.4T->CONFIG GUIDES->IP SERVICES->ARP
IOS->12.2->Command refference->EIGRP
The problem is that information regarding one technology, presented on one page, comes from different guides or sections, so I would have to check where it came from and add few links. Maybe I will be able to add some links, but I would rather like to focus on the technology itself.
Hi , Your work is great , Are you done with your MPLS Notes?
Almost done, should be completed in March.
Hi,
Many thanks for your effort. Really appreciate it!
I’m finding this stuff really helpful. Did you continually draw these mind maps out again and again until you had memorised them?
I stared drawing them from my other notes taken in a plain, old-fashioned form. Then, I kept adding new stuff while reading new docs.
Awesome. Thanks for creating and sharing this
Gr8 Work, you did not include the MPLS, EEM, Control-plane Inspection, and DHCP Relay, Option 82, do you have any plans to add them ??
Yes, I will be adding all missing topics. Some of them are alredy added, but I want to post updated pdf with all of them. Couple of weeks and it will be ready.
Hey Man, thanks thanks Thanks, i cleared my CCIE R&S V4 Lab today, and passed all 4 OEQs, your notes were the most important contributor in all effort, Thanks for sharing such precious document ;)

Congratulations :-) I am glad my notes vere helpful :-) Those happy news give me a reason to continue developing the notes … :-)
Hi ( czesc ) Krzysztof ,
I just wanted to let you know that I use sometimes your notes when I’m not able to find quickly something in my notes :-) as yours are very well structured. thanks Krzysztof for sharing it with the ccie candidates community.
Kind regards , Pozdrowienia

First, I want thank you for your “really” effort, and told you that your notes help me to prepare to ccie lab.
But I note very small mistake “typing mistake not logical”, In page 18 from updated version, Vrrp authentication is “vrrp 1 authentication …”, not “standby 1 authentication …”.
Accept my greeting.
I have already passed the Lab but still eagerly waiting for your updated Notes ;)

Nicely documented. Helped me a lot. Thanks for sharing.
Hello Dear, when are you sharing the mpls notes updated version ?? my paper is near that would help me great. are you planning to include some troubleshooting notes ?
I planned to post MPLS notes in March, but the life brings many unexpected surprises, so I had no time to finish them. I will try to publish updated notes ASAP, I hope begining of May. Troubleshooting will not be in my notes, as I will have no time to include them at all. First, it’s huge. I would have to go through all topics, labbing them all again, catching TS outputs. Second, IMHO, troubleshooting is nothing else than verification of one’s technology knowledge :-), so, if one knows how certain technology works, one knows where to look for a solution when configuration is broken. It’s just a matter of playing with show/debug commands… :-) But’s that’s just my personal opinion.
Well said, if you are good in technology, then troubleshooting is free 20 points in Lab.

I can imagine the hard work you have put into compiling such a fantastic resource. I am preparing for my written and I am preparing my own notes on pen and paper. The problem with my notes is that it gets too descriptive (good for the written but not good enough for the lab prep). This doco of yours is the best fit for me as I will have elaborate notes from different sources covering the written aspect and I will use your notes for the more hands on lab exam once I start preparing for it in 6 weeks time. I hope the MPLS section is added to this wonderful doco by that time.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for selflessly sharing your resources. It has inspired me to digitize my notes and publish them for someone preparing for the written exam.
God Bless You.

Hi Krzysztof,
A few months ago I came to the conclusion I was waisting my time by writing a pile of documentation. A kind of personal bible for the CCIE written. So I tried the mindmapping instead.
I was quite surprised when I stumbled upon your mindmaps. The minmaps I have done myself are rubbish compared to yours. You really are getting to the point here and leave all irrelevant details out.
Have you tried Mindjet Mindmanager or did you just start using Visio?
Mindmanager takes good care of the layout for you, but you are not as flexible as you are with visio.
Thanks for you hard work!!
Erwin
I use Visio. It also does auto-layout, but I manage all links by myself anyway, as the auto-layout is not always what I want. The Visio is the best tool in my opinion, you have 100% control of what you get at the end.
Hi Krzysztof,
I should switch to visio then. I indeed found that the auto-layout messes up the ordering of the topics you just carefully created.
The disadvantage of visio is that it is more time consuming to create a MM. The advantage is the greater control.
Thanks,
Erwin
Really great effort dear keep it high.
